The Personal Watercraft Industry Association applauds the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators for the success of Operation Dry Water, (June 26-June 28, 2009) a weekend-long event involving at least 49 states promoting boater safety by discouraging “boating under the influence,” or BUI.
While states have taken positive steps to reduce boating accidents, more can be done. In the spirit of National Safe Boating Week, lawmakers should consider taking the already-strong Florida boating laws to the next step.
PWIA works to ensure personal watercraft and PWC users are treated fairly when local, state and federal government officials consider boating regulations. PWIA often provides the first line of defense against anti-boating interests, as restrictions proposed for PWC could be expanded to affect other segments of the boating community
