The Personal Watercraft Industry Association applauds the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators for the success of Operation Dry Water, (June 26-June 28, 2009) a weekend-long event involving at least 49 states promoting boater safety by discouraging “boating under the influence,” or BUI.
While states have taken positive steps to reduce boating accidents, more can be done. In the spirit of National Safe Boating Week, lawmakers should consider taking the already-strong Florida boating laws to the next step.
PWIA provides a free rental education package to PWC rental businesses. This kit includes a brand new video (produced on DVD in 2006) that should be viewed by all renters before they go riding, and a safety checklist approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.
