The Personal Watercraft Industry Association applauds the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators for the success of Operation Dry Water, (June 26-June 28, 2009) a weekend-long event involving at least 49 states promoting boater safety by discouraging “boating under the influence,” or BUI.
While states have taken positive steps to reduce boating accidents, more can be done. In the spirit of National Safe Boating Week, lawmakers should consider taking the already-strong Florida boating laws to the next step.
Join the campaign to restore PWC use along the 17 mile stretch of the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) as it transverses through Biscayne National Park in Miami. This area of the ICW is the ONLY place along the channel that PWC are not allowed. Therefore, PWC operators are denied the safe passage afforded by the ICW from Miami to points south and are forced to venture out into the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Sign the petition now to protect boaters from this unnecessary safety hazard! Learn more by visiting www.boatbiscayne.com.
