Kawasaki, PWC Group Sponsors "Extreme Cleanup" at Lake Mead NRA

U.S. Department of the Interior - Kawasaki Motors Corporation and the American Watercraft Association are combining their efforts at Lake Mead National Recreation Area to conduct a cleanup in and around Lake Mead Marina and Hemenway Harbor, Saturday, May 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Kawasaki has extended invitations to personal watercraft owners in the Nevada, Arizona, California and Utah areas and encourages anyone else interested to join the event at either location.

This is the second year the groups have combined to join the Lake's contribution in the "Great American Cleanup." Last year they collected nearly 500 bags of trash and discarded pieces of boats and nautical paraphernalia. This year the emphasis will be around the two launch ramps with several hundred people expected to participate.

Kawasaki has arranged for several prizes to be awarded in several categories including most trash collected, strangest item found and largest item brought into the ramp.

For additional information about the cleanup, contact Nancy Bernard at Lake Mead NRA, (702) 293 8714 or Jan Plessner of Kawasaki Motor Corp., USA at (949) 770-0400, ext. 2128.
